About Mr Mukherjee

Mr Raj Mukherjee is a medical retina consultant with specialist expertise in retinal disorders including age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic retinopathy. He also has specialist knowledge on non-scarring lasers for diabetic retinopathy, diabetic maculopathy and retinal vein occlusion. He has experience in management inherited retinal diseases including retinitis pigmentosa and Stargardt’s disease.
He is an expert in cataract surgery especially in patients with other retinal diseases and specialises in Micro-incision cataract surgery.
He is an active researcher in retinal conditions and is the principal investigator and sub-investigator of several national and international clinical trials.

Mr Mukherjee trained as a fellow in medical retina and inherited eye disease at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London from where he obtained wide knowledge on all retinal disorders. The experience gained, and research conducted during his four years at Moorfields fuelled his clinical and research interests. He spent another four years, training at Oxford John Radcliffe Hospital as a registrar and a fellow. He also works as a Medical Retina Consultant at St James’s University Hospital, since 2016.
